The land where our wine was born.

At Bodegas CHP, we have an area of about 20 hectares distributed between the regions of Tacoronte, Acentejo and Guimar Valley where we have centenarians and young vines.

The estate, "The Riquelas" in the village of Sauzal, has an area of 4 hectares, with an altitude of 400 metres above sea level. It is well known that the conditions in this area are favourable for the harvest, this has yielded a strong reputation of wines from The Riquelas regional. Their rich, moist soil, altitude, slopes and orientation to the west, enables the grape to have a higher insolation and therefore the wines are of an excellent quality.

Riquelas is a place name that is associated with the former owner of the place, Antonio Riquel de Angulo, who already in the EIGHTEENTH century he built a house flagship in the number 15 of the street of The Career of The Lagoon.

The estate, "The Reconda" with 7 hectares, 150 m altitude, located in the town of Candelaria, has been plowed with soil brought from the north of the island and distributed in terraces of more than 200 mts long and 50 mts wide. Most vines are Vijariego Tinto, Marmajuelo and Malvasia. This property gives our wines "Calius" its identification and character.

At Bodegas C.H.P. our main objective is that the land planted with vines provide the nutrients needed, and that these lands produce quality wines, adapting to the shape of this ideal culture. We are not concerned about the quantity but the quality of the vintage. Finca Las Riquelas, The Reconda, La Quinta Blanca and La Estenia and thus reflecting the variety and nature of the local soil.
